 11 ZFI FELLOWS QUALIFY FOR UPSC MAINS

August 24, 2011 (New Delhi): ZFI is proud to announce that eleven 'ZFI Fellows' (link) have qualified for taking the Civil Services Mains Exams.

The Union Public Service Commission of India (UPSC) declared these results after conducting the Civil Services Prelims Examinations in May 2011.

These successful ZFI sponsored candidates are listed below.

WHAT IS 'ZFI FELLOWSHIP'?
ZFI sponsors coaching of a limited number of 'ZFI Fellows,' i.e. academically meritorious and financially deserving candidates with an interest in appearing for the Civil Services examination.

ZFI provides accommodation in New Delhi and pays for their coaching at India's top Civil Service Coaching institutes.

The Civil Services offer about 850 positions a year, out of a pool of 1,93,000 yearly candidates - i.e. 0.44% success rate.

WHY HAVE 'ZFI FELLOWSHIP'?
Per the 2007 Sachar Report Muslims constituted only 1% to 4.5% of the civil services, judiciary and government jobs - predominantly as clerical  or janitorial staff, despite being 13.4% of the population.

Civil Services are a crucial government organ overseeing implementation of national policy and resource allocation.

The ZFI Fellowship aims to alleviate the lack of representation in the Civil Services, via a merit-based approach.
